Cold. Dark. SNOW!
5 Mile Run in the Albany Pine Bush
Friday, November 16, 2007
Despite being pretty tired, I managed to drag my backside over to the Pine Bush for a run... the first real cold run of the season. Broke out the tights, a fleece top, and a polypro earband, as well as my headlamp, since it was dark for the entire run.
While I was running we got the first snow of the season... not even enough to cover the ground with a light dusting, really, but still kind of cool to be out running in it.
The Pine Bush folks are getting fairly serious about the illegal trails cut by the mountain bikers... most of the trailheads have been fenced off and marked with signs explaining why unauthorized trails are bad (fragmentation of a threatened unique habitat) and pointing out that the primary mission of the Pine Bush Commission is to preserve the Pine Bush, not provide recreational opprtunities for people. Hopefully the riders will get the message before bikes get banned from the Pine Bush...
Legs felt tired and sluggish during most of the run... with luck they'll feel better Sunday in Rhode Island, or it will be a long, slow 8 miles...
