SNOW, SNOW, SNOW!

One of the pluses to being a snowshoer is it's almost always exciting when it snows - fresh powder to play in! Add in the possibility of a snow day off work (I know, I know, teachers have the cushiest jobs in the world...) and it's pretty clear why snow makes me smile.
Last weekend things were looking rather bleak for the upcoming snowshoe races (Greylock Glen, which I've been helping organize this year, and Albany's own Brave the Blizzard) with a miniscule amount of fresh powder covering ice and frozen ground. If tomorrow's storm goes as projected, both should be transformed into fantastic snowshoeing opportunities.
On the minus side - snow emergencies in Albany (single-side parking for 48 hours), inconsiderate fools who don't shovel their sidewalks, and all the people who drive like morons when the weather is poor. Excellent reasons to eventually move out of the city and into the country! Someday...
