ALWAYS BRING A CAMERA... SIGH
1.5 Mile Walk at Buckingham Pond
Saturday, June 20, 2015
I wasn't sure where I'd go for a walk after running errands, and the weather this afternoon was dull and grey, presumably preceding the rain that's supposed to come through tonight. So I left the camera at home, and then on my second time around the pond was treated to the sight of a pair of hawk moths zipping around the flower clusters on the milkweed plants at the eastern end of the pond. Since I didn't have a camera I had to settle for watching them for a few minutes. I suspect they were a different species from the ones I usually see, since the colors were different - both of these had yellow bands on their abdomens. Perhaps a pair of bee hawk moths?
