12.8 Mile Ride Along the Mohawk-Hudson Bike Path
Thursday, June 5, 2008
My legs have definitely been feeling the effects of Monday's run, Tuesday's ride, and then yesterday's hike and run... so today my goal was a short, easy ride. As with Tuesday's ride, I took my camera along just in case I saw anything out of the ordinary, but planned to spend almost all of my limited time riding otherwise.
Weather was OK at the start but turned sunny and gorgeous by the time I was done. If my legs hadn't been tired and if I hadn't been working against the clock (I needed to get to the karate school to teach class) I would have probably stayed out for another hour or so.
Along the way I saw two turtles (a painted turtle and a snapping turtle) and paused at the base of the old Niskayuna landfill to photograph a couple of swallows that were hanging out on the overhead wires.
While it would have been nice to spend even more time outdoors on a beautiful evening, it's just as well I had to cut it short... the Powerbar Yellowjacket 9 mile trail race is only a day and a half away, and my legs need to recover at least a little bit before I tackle those hills!
