Canoe Meadows is a 264 acre Mass Audubon wildlife sanctuary close to the center of Pittsfield. Back when I worked in Great Barrington I drove past the entrance several times a month, since Pittsfield was the nearest place to do any major shopping (as well as home to the supplier for the monthly comic book habit I had back then) but it's only in the last two years that I've actually visited the site, partly because there are many interesting places to visit in western MA and I have only limited time to visit them... the fact that there's a $3 fee may also play a role.
