12.8 Mile Ride Along the Erie Canal
Thursday, July 5, 2007
After we returned home from my shortened run, the rain stopped and the sun came out... then it rained again... then we had rain and sun at the same time! In fact, at one point it was raining on my car in the driveway but not on Ann's front steps about 20 feet away... with sun shining all around us the entire time. Bizarre.
So once it looked like the rain had let up, we headed over to the Erie Canal and rode east on the path, from just west of Genesee Valley Park over the Lock 32 Canal Park. Nice evening for a ride, and for the most part the path wasn't too crowded, probably because it's still fairly cool. Saw a multitude of bunnies, 'chucks, ducks, and even a deer... also one bird with a very strange looking bill, which I'm hoping to identify when I return home this weekend and have access to my bird book. Ann said her knees had pretty much had it by the time we were done, and my legs were definitely tired, between the run this morning and riding my heavy ATB tonight. But it was well worth it to get in a ride with my sweetie...
