11 Mile Run from Scottsville Rd to Lock 33 and back
Sunday, August 12, 2007

After hot, sunny weather for much of the weekend, late this afternoon clouds moved in and the wind picked up, signalling that some sort of storm was coming in. Naturally, I had made plans to go for a run this evening while Ann did her weekly Sunday night rescue squad duty...

Fortunately, the rain stayed a light drizzle the whole time I ran, and was actually cool and refreshing, making it a fun run instead of a cold, wet, miserable run. I ran the bike path from the Public Safety facility on Scottsville Rd over to Lock 33 in Brighton... with a short side trip or two to snap some pictures, ended up with about 11 miles all together. No surprise, I only saw a few other folks out on the path... a couple of riders, a couple of runners, and a couple of walkers. I also saw two more common flickers, which was a very pleasant surprise, and early on a 2 point buck walked out on the path just ahead of me, but headed into the woods before I could get my camera out to try and take a picture.

Wrapped the new camera up in plastic bags and took it along, and even managed to take half a dozen pictures... most of the time it was raining too hard for me to risk it. The shots look good on the LCD... I'm looking forward to downloading them to my computer at home and seeing what they look like full size! (I'll be reducing them for loading into my posts and on Kodak Gallery.)

cool and rainy - a good evening to be a duck...

Legs held up fine on the pavement... though I can't say I felt like I could have run another 15 miles! Guess I just have to keep plugging away and hope for the best come mid-September...
