I should have gotten out for either a run or a ride this afternoon before I head to the other side of the state, but... my new digital camera arrived and I've been playing instead.
I ended up getting a Canon Powershot A570IS... it's a bit bulkier than many people seem to prefer nowadays, but that's a tradeoff for using AA batteries (very easy to get rechargeable replacements!) and a boatload of features at a much lower price (including image stablization, which is supposed to help correct for my shaky hands at higher shutter speeds.) I ended up spending $50 more than I'd originally intended, but I think that's going to turn out to have been worth it. And as part of the purchase I was able to get a 2 GB high speed SD card for an additional $5. My initial estimates seem to indicate that I should be able to take 600 pictures at the highest resolution before I fill the card.
Chaos the cat, of course, is unimpressed. I'm guessing she's wondering why she bothered to wake up for this.
Fair warning... visitors to my rambling blog will probably be subjected to even more photos than I've been posting up to now!
