A Brief Visit to Pratt's Falls Park

While at the Skyline Lodge in Highland Forest, I picked up a flyer for Pratt's Falls Park, another Onondaga County Park with a 137 foot high waterfall. As we drove back towards Syracuse, we passed a sign for the park, and a quick U-turn later found us following signs to a small park pretty much out in the middle of nowhere.

Parked the car in a very icy parking lot - a great chance to finally test my screw shoes, which worked great! They'll be a good addition to my running equipment if and when I'm out on icy trails or sidewalks this winter.

We walked over to the falls overlook, which gave a decent view of the waterfall and down into the gorge. Down at the bottom of the gorge we could see a viewing area, but since everything was under 6-8 inches of snow and it was pretty cold, we opted to head back to the car rather than hike through the snow and down a probably icy, snow-covered path. Definitely another park to visit in nicer weather!
