Just a Bumblebee...

Often, I try to work in a hike or a ride when I travel somewhere for a race... just trying to use the time and money spent travelling most effectively. Today I had considered hiking into Ice Glen in Stockbridge on my way home... but crummy weather (cloudy with a strong possibilty of rain) and being fairly tired from not getting a lot of sleep combined to convince me to just head home instead.
I did stop in Lee, MA, to purchase a cold drink and some ice cream... and when I came out of the store I found that a huge cluster of purple blossomed thistles was growing right next to where I'd parked, and a bumblebee was happily making his way around the blossoms collecting pollen. I really like how some of the photos came out... I find it especially fascinating to see the huge clumps of pollen on the bee's legs.
There are plenty of times when either my lack of preparation, lack of skill, or lack of equipment means I don't capture what I'd really like to in a photo... but I love the times like these when it all comes together and the magic works.
