Mountains and More Mountains

My original plan was to visit a couple of waterfalls and possibly the Bennington Battle Monument on the way home... but waking up with a bug definitely coming on nixed that. I still decided to take a different way home - route 7 down through the Green Mountains National Forest. After all, I'm hoping to explore southern Vermont a bit more in the next year or two.
Mountains everywhere... not terribly green, but still pretty cool. I started with snow flurries, which gave way to clouds and then finally some partial sunshine. Route 7 was a nice drive, other than the obnoxious drivers from NY and NJ. As I took the Bennington Bypass over toward New York I could see the Monument off in the distance... that thing is awfully impressive. Almost tempted me to stop and visit, but in the end better sense won out and I went straight home, to some cold medicine and many hours of sleep in a warm bed.
If nothing else, the drive reinforced my desire to spend some more time in the mountains and woods of Vermont... but maybe in warmer weather...
